Abbasid Qur’an Folio, 9th–10th century
This is a picture of a page from the Qur’an in the Kufi script. According to Islamic tradition, the Qur’an contains the revelations of God through the Prophet Mohammad. The Qur’an has 114 chapters and was collected and canonized in the mid-seventh century CE by the third caliph, Uthman ibn Affan.
