Agricultural Scenes
Scenes from the 18th-Dynasty Theban tomb of Menna, Scribe of the Fields of the Lord of the Two Lands of Upper and Lower Egypt, depicting elements of the agricultural cycle. The top register shown includes oxen threshing grain and men winnowing it; in the middle register shown, men carry a load of grain on poles across their shoulders while two girls scuffle, two men or boys sit under a tree, one perhaps sleeping, the other playing a pipe, and an old man with gray hair leans on a stick; the bottom register shown depicts men plowing, a girl removing a thorn from the foot of another girl, and people pulling flax.
