Seti I Presenting Ma’at
This is a statue of King Seti I (1290-1279 BCE) of the Ninetteenth Dynasty holding up an image of the goddess Ma’at, the goddess truth, justice, and harmony. Here she is depicted seated with an ostrich feather (the hieroglyph for “Ma’at”) on her head. By depicting himself presenting the goddess Ma’at to the gods, the king demonstrates both his obedience to the principle of Ma’at and his role in upholding the laws of the universe.
