Mosque of Imam ‘Ali
The Mosque of Imam ‘Ali is one of the most important religious sites in the world for Shi‘a Muslims. It is the burial site of the first Shi‘a Imam, ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib. ‘Ali was the nephew of the prophet Muhammad and married to Fatima, one of Muhammad’s daughters. ‘Ali’s son Husayn is also buried in Iraq.
