Roman Theater at Bostra (Busra) in Syria
The Roman theater at Bostra (administrative seat of Roman province of Arabia) is one of the best preserved Roman theaters anywhere in the empire. It survived because it eventually was transformed into a fortress and place of asylum and refuge after it ceased to serve as a place for theatrical performances.
